Disney's Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad Review

Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is a charming and fun collection of two shorts filled with humor and song.

It's a very good film and the best film by far of the Package Era in my opinion.

The animation is very good and both cartoons featured are whimsical and lighthearted.

Mr. Toad's story was based on the Wind and the Willows and Mr. Toad is an eccentric wealthy  toad with a tendency to get obsessed with various hobbies, specifically automobiles in this short.

The characters, including Mr. Toad, are all charming and likable other than, of course, the villains, which are weasels led by a mustachioed human named Mr. Winky.

I really enjoyed Mr. Toad's story but it's the second story, Ichabod's story, based on the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, that is the better half of the film and largely because of its stellar ending.

A charming tale of the eccentric school teacher Ichabod Crane is very funny and the songs are sang by the very talented Bing Crosby but what elevates it so highly in my opinion is it's brilliant chase scene and preceding buildup with the Headless Horseman. It's simply a brilliant and seamless combination of humor and very light horror elements that both thrills and amuses the viewer.

The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is a very family-friendly feature. Parents might note there are alcohol references in Mr. Toad including intoxicated characters.  The chase scene in Ichabod might be too frightening for very young children.

Overall, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is fun and whimsical film and while it might not be a great movie like Pinnochio or Snow White but it is a very good one and I would give it a 9.
