Disney's Beauty and the Beast review
Disney's Beauty and the Beast is one of the best films of all time and is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, standing above other Disney films, not because they are bad as most of them have been great and quite a few masterpieces on their own right. But none in my opinion reaches the level of splendor and magic that sheer wonder than Beauty and the Beast does.
Visually it stuns with its gorgeous representation of the French countryside and its awe-inspiring depiction of the Beast's enchanted castle.
It's music is on par with the best Broadway musicals.
The ballroom scene is iconic and its use of early cgi looks simply splendid while the song 'Beauty and the Beast' plays alongside it sung by Angela Lansbury the actor who plays Miss Potts.
Belle is the best Disney princess so far in my opinion as she is not only beautiful but sweet and charming while also being confident and intelligent.
Likewise the Beast is the most dynamic and interesting prince character so far as his change from cruel and ill-tempered to kind and gentle is extremely well-done.
And Gaston is a different kind of villain. He is just a normal guy not a criminal or sorcerer as is typical of many Disney villains. He transforms from a shallow and conceited yet not overtly malevolent or remotely villainous man to a desperate heartless and murderous beast through the course of the film, serving as a mirror of the Beast's journey but in reverse.
Overall, this very family friendly film has drinking of alcohol, smoking I believe, and moments that might be slightly frightening to very young children.
Such a great movie, it's on a whole new level, and it's easily my new favorite. I love it so much! A 10 out of 10.
