Disney's Rescuers review
Disney's Rescuers in my opinion is an extremely underrated Disney classic that tells a dark story of child abduction and exploitation with great sensitivity and care and balances the maturity of the dark plot with loads of charm and humor from Bernard and Bianca as well as other amusing animal characters.
The songs are great even though, they aren't that many of them. The animation for the most part is great with my only major complaint is sometimes characters can be a bit too scratchy around the edges like other animated Disney films of this era. Yet I don't think i noticed this problem as much in Rescuers as I did early films. Also some might compain that once the scene shifts to the swamp where a majority of Rescuers take place the backgrounds became very drab and gloomy with muted colors. However I feel that this matches the atmosphere of the environment and darker mood perfectly.
The characters are great especially Penny who is adorable and sweet and even a bit sassy despite her dire situation. Bernard and Bianca are such charming and lovable protagonists and Medusa is one of the cruelest and most selfish of Disney villains as she has no regard for Penny's safety and well-being.
Overall Rescuers is a family-friendly animated film despite irs dark subject matter but it does have alcohol references and might be a bit too much for very young children.
What a sweet film and a classic. I love it and give it a 10 out of 10.
