Disney's Animated Film Tier List 1970-1999

Tier list for Disney films from 1970 to 1999.

This era is the so-called Disney Dark Age and Renaissance era.

S tier + added because some of these films are so good they deserve a special category and because otherwise like 60 to 70 percent would be S tier. Some of them I might promote or demote from original score. If so, I give brief reason.

S tier +
Lion King 10
Beauty and the Beast 10
Alladin 10
Tarzan 10
Little Mermaid 10
Hunchback of Notre Dame 10
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 10
Mulan 10
Fox and the Hound 10

S tier-
Robin Hood 10 originally 9.5 because of animation reuse but it is so charming and fun and heartwarming,  I think its 10 and high S tier
Hercules 10
Rescuers 10
Rescuers Down Under 10 I changed it from 9.5 to 10. Yes I still like the first one's story better but the animation is so beautiful and McLeach is such a great and underrated Villain.
Oliver and Company  10 I love this movie so much for its humor and heartwarming plot. Originally 9.5 because Sykes is not best villain but after watching Pocahontas and seeing how bad Governor Ratcliffe is, I like him a lot better now.
Great Mouse Detective 10 originally 9.5, yes I prefer more heartwarming stories like Fox and Hound and Rescuers but its such a charming film and Basil and Ratigan are such great characters.

A tier-
Black Cauldron 9 Gave it a big boost in retrospect.  It has some flaws in character development, which is very rushed due likely to its short run time combined with ambitious and epic story. But I love it so for its stunning animation, dark and unique plot, and its terrifying villain the Horned King.

B tier-
Aristocats 8.5
Pocahontas 8 I think i ranked it .5 lower as its originally a 8.5. But as great as the production values with stunning visuals and song, it has the horrible Ratcliffe as villain and largely flat, poorly developed characters. Still its not bad but I think its quite weak compared to excellent films of this period
