Donkey Kong review

Donkey Kong for the NES is an absolute classic for a reason. It's fun, even today, despite or perhaps because of its simplicity.

The graphics are simplistic to the extreme, but there is a nostalgic charm to that, and the sound effects are somehow just as endearing, even though they are barely more than beeps and boops.

The game is a repetitive cycle of three stages, that get progressively harder. They are fun and basic with Mario/Jumpman's only actions besides moving left and right are jumping and climbing ladders. Besides this there is the hammer powerup which makes Mario automatically swing a hammer up and down for a short time, automatically destroying enemies and obstacles.

Donkey Kong is a very family-friendly game.

Despite its simplicity I love this game but its very repetitive and you basically just play it till you get tired of it or the game gets too hard. I give it A tier, 9 out of 10.
